Barbara works under the name “Leafy Green Potter” and creates plates from impressions of real leaves. Her raw material comes from the street where she lives, countries she visits and the vegetable plants at Two Pond Farm in West Milford. When winter comes, she heads for the produce department at a local grocery and usually picks up cabbage or beets. She selects the strongest leaves to work with and cooks the rest!
She strives to maintain the integrity of each leaf while also making the finished plate applicable for daily use.
She is the owner of American Art Studio, a Calligraphy and Graphic Design studio, which is celebrating its 40th year in business. Working in clay is her new passion.
