Artist Statement:

Nothing excites me more than getting my hands in clay and trusting and turning it to evolve into its own creation. I have tried to sketch a design, but nothing looks like what I have sketched. For many years now when I go into my studio, I think of my loved ones who have passed away. I pick a name, gaze at the photograph and remembering our good times, I let the clay create a celebration of their life.

The work I have submitted for the show is a direct reflection of how create all my works, I feel all my work reflects a celebration of life whether it be inspired by memories of a deceased loved one, an event of the past or present, inspired by nature, or just celebrating being alive everyday!

My clay medium of choice is stoneware. Though I am proficient at throwing of the wheel, I prefer the endless creative possibilities of hand building, using the extruder, creating from slab work. My works reflect a combination of all those techniques.
