What inspires me. . .

Art history and the wonderful stories of how things are made and the people who made them has always been a fascination to me. “Why did someone make this object, what did it mean to them? Those are the same questions we ask ourselves today. So, why do we make things with our hands? For me, making things is very satisfying and I become all consumed in the process. I have always loved the sea and long walks on the beach where I would find seashells, driftwood, sharks teeth, and beach glass. Listening to the sound of the waves as they wash on the shore, feeling the ebb and flow of the tide as it pulls me out to sea is at once awe inspiring and captivating. Standing watchfully, I can see seagulls swooping down to catch a fish, dolphins surfing on the waves, a whale’s tail as it descends below the water, all these gifts from the sea are thrilling to me and inspire my work.
