I began my journey in clay over 30 years ago. Although I took another path, I’ve recently found my way back. Over the years I have taken art and ceramics courses at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon, at the Benton Center in Corvallis, Oregon and apprenticed with a potter on Long Island, New York. More recently I have taken courses at Supermud Pottery in Manhattan and at the Art School at Old Church in Demarest, New Jersey.
My work in clay, which is heavily influenced by nature, is focused on bringing together function, form, color and design. I enjoy experimenting with glaze combinations and utilizing a variety of carving, stamping and fluting techniques. Creating botanical impressions highlighted with washes of color is a favorite of mine. I’m primarily a functional potter aspiring to incorporate the beauty of nature through color and texture into everyday life. I work in porcelain and stoneware.
