My work is a process of letting go of control. As humans we are constantly attempting to control, whether it be the environment or our own spheres of life. Acknowledging what we have control of and what we do not is a process in itself. I tend to choose reactive glazes, that change with the firing and kiln to expose the lack of control and unpredictability of the ceramic process. I give up my pieces in each firing, letting go of my control of their outcome. Sometimes this results in blessings by the kiln, other times not. It is fully giving into the process of clay and letting it have a voice in the creation of the work.
