I truly am in love with the process of creating, but find that working in clay is my definitive choice for self-expression. My pieces are often functional in nature, but I also do a great deal of decorative pieces incorporating my love of carving and detail.
I love incorporating natural elements into my hand built pieces, so I will often use ferns and leaves to imprint lasting impressions in the clay. As an example, in one of my pieces, I used impressions from a fern plant I have had for well over 40 years, that my father gave me. It brings special meaning to my work incorporating things that are important to me.
I think using natural elements brings me inner peace and closer to nature and therefore expressed in my work.
I was a teacher of Art for over 32 years combined in Parsippany, Ridgewood and East Hanover School systems before retiring in 2011 to pursue pottery fulltime. Besides pottery, my earlier pursuits in college were in printmaking (intaglio etching) and painting. I enjoy photography as well.
I show and sell my work in the two Potters' Guild shows each year, plus various small shows that often pop-up here and there. In addition, you can view my work both on Instagram and FB. My work is also for sale at my Etsy shop or you can contact me directly at my email address posted above.
